The museum was established in 1968 and the main objective was to preserve and promote the folk culture of the Sukuma people in the lake zone. The tourist visit to the museum provides the opportunity to see different artifacts that were used by the Sukuma. The center is located 13 kilometers from the city in Kisesa village. The entrance fee for foreign tourists is US$ 5 for adults and US$ 3 for children. Watching traditional dances costs US$50.
